Light Meter:

  • Measuring light in different areas
  • Completely black-3, 5 and 6 stops
  • Camera light meter- reflects the light
  • Light meter- point to the light source or light coming above.
- When using a flash it is a good thing to have a light meter

Measure light is either:
  • Reflected or incident (ambient)
Incident: Using the white dome on the light meter
Reflected: Use for small products

Tungsten Lights:

- Tungsten lights are warmer
Tungsten Halogen: Is what we are going to use more.
  • Its more constant output & colour temperature
  • Very hot
  • Can shine into other peoples studio area's ( so be careful)
Harsh light: Further away the harsher the light (small light source)
Soft light: The closer the softer the light ( big light source)

Rembrandt Style: Side lighting 45 degrees, should see triangle on face
Hollywood Style: Front on lighting, flat, quite high, should see butterfly of light (can be harsh)
